Taming Turnover
If you think employee turnover is primarily caused by low wages and benefits – then you will be very excited by the insights offered in this workshop. This session is built on the concepts contained in Paula MacLean’s recent book "Taming Turnover, Creating Strategies for Employee Retention". You will learn about the 30 factors that research tells us influence employees’ decisions to remain with their employers. You’ll discover how to identify and target your specific employee turnover challenges and what strategies are likely to be most effective.
Strategies include concrete ideas for better recruitment and orientation as well as what managers and supervisors can do to have direct and immediate impact on keeping your best and most talented employees. Most strategies are low, or no cost, but have significant results on employee retention.
This workshop is available in a two day format. The session allows time for participants to create a specific plan to take home and implement at their work site.

Participants may also bring examples of written work from their own workplace for critique and improvement.
Please note, this workshop is not intended to be remedial for employees who have language, spelling or diagnosed learning problems. The session is presented in a one day format.

Learning to Talk About the Tough Stuff
If you’ve ever known you just HAD to talk with someone at work or at home about something important, but that something was also difficult to talk about? Then don’t miss this session. This 1/2 day workshop will help you learn how to engage in conversations that are “real” without becoming confrontational.
As we get older, many of us discover that we get into more “trouble” in our relationships with coworkers, supervisors and family for what we don’t say than for what we do say. When we get into hot water for what we do say, it is often because of how we approached the issue. This lively and interactive session will turn a few lights on how we can improve our lives at work and home, one conversation at a time.

Managing Change and Transition
How change impacts each of us differently, and why the real challenge is with transition not change. Transition is how each of us adapts and adjusts to change. A key stage in transition is the neutral zone where we experience both chaos (Why are we doing this? Where are we going? Is anyone in charge? Should I jump now or later?) as well as hope and optimism.
This workshop is available in half day, one day and two day formats. For organizations experiencing significant change – the two-day form is recommended.

Stress Management
This one day workshop focuses on the three keys for stress reduction and stress prevention. With the first key – "Change the Situation" – participants learn how to use 10 steps for systematic problem solving. The second key – "Change your Body’s Response" highlights the basics of a healthy lifestyle, progressive relaxation strategies and visualization practice. The third key – "Change your Frame" identifies seven common thinking errors (e.g., "catastrophizing", anticipating disasters) and how to avoid each.
Stress Management and Change workshops are a great combination!

Train the Trainer
This interactive session will help new and seasoned trainers alike in designing and delivering effective training sessions. Part One of the session deals with how to design, plan and prepare training materials from scratch (including how to do research, preparing audiovisual materials and handouts, and developing practice exercises). Part Two gives participants several opportunities to practice the four phases of any good training session (getting started, delivery to the group, facilitating practice exercises, and concluding the session).
The workshop is appropriate for anyone who must do live training sessions with groups of participants. Internet-based training is not discussed. Participants must come prepared to take some risk by practicing their skills in front of a small group of supportive fellow learners.
This workshop is a two day format only.
